Project Day!

Today was a very busy and productive day thanks to our AWESOME family and friends! This morning (Sat.) I left about 9:30 am to take the girls shopping for a picnic table. Then we went to Lowe's to buy another gal. of paint (I should really buy stock there), and lastly I met momma H. at the church to handoff Hailey who was going to a pool party w/ Nana. In those 3 hrs. that I was gone this is what happened in my house:
Chris and Sonya showed up in their very professional painting attire!

David G, my cousin, came w/ tools in hand for his plumbing duties

And my brother Seth showed up w/ all of his professional painting equipment, including a 19" paint roller. He edged and painted the entire living rm. and hallway by himself in about 1 1/2 hrs.

Sorry for this angle of Seth but I wanted to show his incredible attention to detail. After taking off all of the tape he took a paintbruch and touched up everthing he thought needed touching up.

By the time I returned from my errands The entire living room, my room, and 3/4 of the kitchen were completely painted. David G. ran a new pipe to my refridgerator's ice machine and started installing my dishwasher, and mom started the first coat on all of my kitchen cupboards. What an AWESOME thing to come home to. And if your wondering where my Dad was in all of this? He was in the kitch at his house preparing a delicious lunch of hamburgers on the grill (w/ tom. from my garden) and potatoe Salad.
After we had lunch and enjoyed each others company it was back to work. Chris and Sonya ended up finishing the kitchen and my office while Seth took that gal. of paint I had just purchased and painted our coat closet walls! Oh and mom and Sissy were outside working on those doors again!

Tonight I sit here in my newly painted and somewhat furnished house and think of how blessed the girls and I are to have such wonderful people in our lives. I cannot say THANK YOU enough to all of you for coming out today and helping!

YEA! THE TV!

After Seth had worked so hard on painting all of the living room walls he got the urge to mount our tv! We picked out the perfect place on the wall and he and Chris got the job done. It was so cool to have a 32" flat screen on the wall. Of course the movie we put in the built in DVD player was spiderman and right as I snapped this shot the Marvel sign came on. What perfect timing! Not to mention I love this picture of Seth!

The Office!

Chris and Sonya painted the entire office! I was so amazed by the incredible job that they did and so thankful for all of their help!

Before the people before me lived here, my brother and his family lived here. And My neice Chelsey resided in this rm. that is becoming my office. As Sonya began to paint we noticed names written all over this one was w/ a type of puffy paint. It took me an hr. to sand them all down but had to take a picture for chels before we painted over it. Don't ask me who Eric was!

The never ending project!

Yes here is the kitchen again. There was so much prep to do on this kitchen before we could even think of painting it. Lots of vacumming inside and outside the cupboards, new contact paper lining the insides, taking off doors and handles, filling in holes, and the list goes on.....
But mom was a trooper and she and I worked diligently to get this job done.

Yesterday's labor!

A friend of Dad and mom's, Tim, left work early just to come by the house and work. He took out almost all of these aweful fence posts that were cemented into the ground. It encloses the girl's playground but was as ugly as sin so it had to go. Not to mention I felt like the girls were little puppy dogs being caged.
Or is that such a bad thing? hummmmm!

The girl's room!

Here are a couple of snipits of what the girl's rm. looks like. It is not completely finished but I think it is looking awesome!
And this is where all 3 of us are sleeping until my rm. is finished. Notice my mattress on the floor in the second photo!

Our New Home!

As some of you may know, The girls and I have found a home and are moving into it just as soon as we are finished painting. We have bought new furniture and appliances just within the past wk. and a half which has been so much fun for my mom and I. So far everything
has been put into the garage so that Mom and I can paint the entire house empty. No moving furniture. Luckily my mother in Law has been so gracious to allow the girls and I to live w/ her until our house is finished. We can never thank her enough!
Thank You Mom!

Left side of kitchen and door into the laundry room.
The hole to the left of the sink is where the dishwasher use to be. Unfortunately, the people who lived here took it with them which sent me on a quest for a new one. I searched Craigslist and found one almost brand new for only $125. It looks awesome! It is a Maytag and has so many cool features.

The right side of kitchen.
No there is no stove but luckily I found one on craigslist for only $125. It is a flat top and in excellent condition!

Prepping the house!

Of course before painting a house there is alot, and I mean alot, of prep work. This is a project that we actually began over a wk. ago and has lasted until today (tomm. comes the painting). First you need to remove all shelves and brackets off of the walls, as well as switch plates and outlet covers. Then there was alot of washing to be done to the walls. Which the girls helped w/ quite a bit. Then we vaccumed all of the cobwebs from every wall, ceiling, and corner in the house. Lastly, mom did the spackling and sanding of all of the holes. Believe me there were alot. Yes this house needs alot of TLC but mom and I have huge plans for it and cannot wait to see the finished product. I wanted to include you all in on this process and I am open to any suggestions or comments that you have!
Let the Journey begin!
